Chris Golden- Before I Wake

This is one of the most heartfelt emotional pieces of music I have ever heard. Literally. Chris Golden has a talent of making you feel like you have went through his struggle. He tells stories with his rhymes and he makes you feel him. Not very many people have the talent of doing this. He is one of the few. He opens up this masterpiece with "The Prayer." Its not actually a prayer, but he's asking people "Why they hate on Chris?" I love this song. The beat is banging. He is opening up to the listener and allowing them to feel his pain. Next up is "The Interview." The beat is slow, and throbbing. It makes you want to bop your head along. His lyrics are tough, he comes correct, spitting "like Craig Mack, I put that flavor in ya ear." Nice. Instead of a hook, he speaks on his thoughts about his lyrics. The only downside of this song is that he uses the word swag. "This Way" is a song about why he cant die, and the things he needs to do before he dies. The beat is hard hitting & the voice on chorus drives the point home. "Faces of America" is a deep song, talking about racism. A must listen. My favorite song would have to be "To My Daddy." I literally teared up listening to this song. If you have a non existent father, this song if for you. He talks about his father in a way that makes you feel his pain. The only song I didnt particularly enjoy was "Die Slow". It didnt suck, I just didnt like it. Bottom line if you enjoy real, deep, thought proking hip-hop, this is for you. Its a must download!

If you enjoyed this check out his other work:

Young Jon Jon- A Long Way To Go

A Long Way To Go is the debut mixtape from Young Jon Jon. It has 14 tracks, including the bonus track. Young Jon Jon starts off strong with "I Aint Tryna". This is one of my favorite tracks on the song. He is using a syrupy slow flow, & the beat is dope. The next track is Move Out My Way. The beat is dope. His flow is OK on this song, it seems all over the place. Its a decent track. He reps his borough on this track saying he is from BK all day. Towards the end he talks about the incarcerated rapper Max B. The next track is Mr. Magnificent, which used the same beat as the Rick Ross/John Legend. My favorite line of the song is when he says, "my songs describe what I do like adverbs." Track number 4 is called My Life. He is is rapping about his life and how he wants to live it right. He also seems to be talking to a female as he raps "NO Chris Brown, I wouldnt hit you," He employs a slow flow. The beat is open & deep. I like it. The overall tape is good & I would recommend it for a download. The only tracks I didnt like were Maybach Dreams, Distant Family & the bonus track.

THE KID DAYTONA COME FLY WITH ME

I'll admit, I wasn't a big fan of The Kid Daytona. He dropped his mixtape, Daytona 500, & I'll admit i didnt even listen to it. Then I heard a track with Bun-B called "Air Born". I was amazed. The beat was simply great & Bun killed his verse. So on the strength of that track i decided to download Dayona's (free) debut album, Come Fly With Me. The artwork is dope & thats always a plus. Overall the album was solid & at 14 tracks it isnt too short or too long. The tracks that stood out for me were, Air Jordan, Eye Know, Perfect, & Air Born, with Air Jordan being my favorite. It gets a 3 and a half rating from me. Its worth the download.
